Theatre has always been, for me, an act of connection.
What continues to draw me to directing is not simply the creation of a production, but the opportunity to bring people together around a shared story and ask what it means to be human in this particular moment. A rehearsal room is one of the few places where artists, students, technicians, and audiences can gather in pursuit of empathy, curiosity, and understanding. It is a space where imagination and practicality coexist, where profound questions can be explored alongside laughter, and where meaningful relationships are built through collective creation.
I have never been interested in theatre as an exercise in self-importance. In fact, one of the things I love most about the art form is its ability to hold both significance and absurdity at the same time. We spend countless hours crafting worlds that disappear the moment the curtain falls. There is something wonderfully humbling about that. Theatre invites us to take our work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously, and that balance has become central to my artistic philosophy.

Every production is the result of a remarkable act of trust: playwrights offering their stories, designers building environments, actors bringing their lived experiences into the room, and audiences arriving with an openness to engage. My role is not to dictate but to facilitate - to create an environment where artists feel empowered to contribute their best work and where ideas can be challenged, refined, and elevated through dialogue.
Throughout my career, I have sought opportunities to build communities that foster that spirit of collaboration. Whether directing productions, teaching master classes, coaching performers, founding artistic initiatives, or leading nonprofit programs that create access for emerging artists and students, I have consistently been drawn to work that strengthens connections between people. I believe the arts have a unique capacity to cultivate empathy, resilience, and belonging, and I view leadership as an extension of that mission.
My artistic voice has been shaped equally by the rehearsal hall, the classroom, and the nonprofit sector. These experiences have reinforced my belief that great theatre is not created in isolation.
